Devon: Crawler and Messy Eater!

Devon is now over 9 months old. He enjoys playing in his Winnie the Pooh walker, as you can see. He is basically crawling. He just kind of pushes himself along with his feet and gets where he wants to go. In the 4th picture you can kind of see his way of crawling. He looks so big to me now! I think the 4th picture also shows how long he is getting. At his 9 month checkup, he weighed in at 18 lbs. 9 oz., but that was with his clothes on.

Devon tries to take the spoon from me when I feed him sometimes. I let him try to feed himself, but he just wanted to play with the spoon and ended up squishing the food in his hand. Imagine that! I had Emily take the last picture, because I realized that I didn't have that many pictures of just Devon and me. I also wanted a picture of my new haircut. It's so much easier to fix my hair now!

Ben Rogers

Ben Rogers, Bryce's cousin, just returned from his mission to Barcelona Spain on May 21. We hadn't seen him since our wedding on May 6, 2006. This past weekend we went to Lehi, UT to see Ben and his family. In the bottom picture, Ben is holding Devon and also pictured are from left: Stephanie, Eric, and Rachel, his siblings. While we were down there, I was able to visit with my friends, Jalisa and Brandon McDaniel, who are in a couple of the other pictures. They live in Provo, UT while they are attending school at BYU. Devon was the hit of the party with Ben's siblings. They just all kept passing him around! He enjoyed sitting outside and playing with the grass, as you can see.

Devon and his "girlfriend"

In the first picture, you can see Devon's two teeth really well. He still hasn't gotten any more yet. Devon was cracking me up in the second picture when I noticed that his leg was slung over his feeding seat. He looked like a little man sitting there! In the last two pictures, Devon is playing with his "girlfriend" Brinley Bitner. They liked playing with each other when we had the Bitners over for dinner recently. Brinley is 5 weeks older than Devon.

Devon - Almost 9 months

Here are some up-to-date pictures of our cute little boy. As you can see in the first picture, Devon enjoys pulling off his socks and chewing on them. We can rarely keep shoes and socks on his feet for very long. He rolls over a lot now, but hasn't started crawling. Just yesterday, however, he started trying to crawl. He was pushing himself up on his feet and slightly on his knees. He did end up pushing himself across the floor by doing that. We were trying to entice him with a stuffed bear and one of Emily's necklaces. So, he is getting closer, but isn't quite there. Emily is holding him in the last picture, and I have been watching her while Mom is at work since school is out. She is a big help with Devon, which allows me to get chores and other things done while she entertains him.

Grizzly Discovery Center

In this first picture, I am obviously close by a buffalo. Right after taking this picture, we saw two wolves across the river. Then Bryce said that there was one swimming across the river, so we hightailed it back to the car. It turned out, though, that the current was too strong for the wolf to even make it across.

The bears shown were at the Grizzly Discovery Center in West Yellowstone. We were able to see some live wolves and bears, as well, but we just videotaped those.

I took a picture of Devon real quick, because I knew that I'd be in trouble if I didn't add a picture of him!

Yellowstone National Park

Bryce and I celebrated our anniversary by going to West Yellowstone last weekend. We went into the park on Saturday, the 10th. Last year we went to see Old Faithful, so this time we went to the Grand Canyon of Yellowstone. We saw several animals, including buffalo, elk, wolves, and a coyote.

Chicago

I am standing in front of a huge boat that was on the way to Navy Pier in Chicago. We wanted to go inside, but it was closed. It seems like everything opens in May in Chicago, so from now on we need to go in May or later. Bryce and Devon are standing in front of the amphitheater at Millennium Park. In this park they also have this giant silver thing that is sort of shaped like a pinto bean, and you can see your reflection in it. It was fun to videotape that. We took the picture of the four wheeler because we thought it was funny that this is what some of the police officers drive in Chicago. In the next picture we are at the top of the Sears Tower. Bryce had to have his picture taken by the basketball wall, of course. LOL! In the last picture, Devon is watching TV. I thought it was hilarious, because he already gets totally mesmerized by TV. He and his dad have a lot in common!
